A Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) delegation led by SIGA Coordinator Emanuel Medeiros concluded today a series of high level contacts with international sport stakeholders and European institutions at the EU Sport Forum in Malta.

The Forum, organised by the European Commission and based on a format established in the 2007 Commission White Paper on Sport, was attended by high-level representatives from international and European sport federations, European and national sport umbrella organisations and other sport-related organisations to discuss key issues affecting European sport policy. During the Forum, the SIGA delegation had constructive exchanges of views with the European Commissioner for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr. Tibor Navracsics, and other high-profile stakeholders.

Speaking after the Forum, the SIGA Council said:

“The discussions SIGA members have participated in at the EU Sport Forum were very productive. There is growing consensus that more needs to be done to safeguard the integrity of sport and drive forward effective reforms for the entire sports community. We would like to thank the European Commission for their engagement with SIGA and for their continued interest as we develop.”
